    For Ages 10-18.  Drop-in on Mondays between 4:30 and 6 pm for Youth Scrabble - an incredibly exciting activity that provides a challenging and stimulating experience for players. The game requires players to use their vocabulary, strategy, and critical thinking skills to create and place words on the board while competing against others. Whether you're an experienced player or a beginner, the fast-paced and competitive nature of the game is sure to keep you engaged and focused. Additionally, the social aspect of Club Scrabble is not to be underestimated, as players can meet new people, share their love of the game, and have fun together. Overall, Youth Scrabble is an exhilarating and satisfying pastime that offers mental stimulation, social interaction, and a lot of excitement.  

    This program is led by Heidi Robertson, Director of the Ottawa Scrabble Club

    Note:  There is no program on February 17 (Family Day), April 21 (Easter Monday) and May 19 (Victoria Day)

    Do you have children ages 5-8?  Would you like them to read more?  Then join our weekly Reading Buddies program.  Each child will be paired with a teen volunteer for fun and interactive read aloud sessions.  Together they will share the joys of reading in a friendly, encouraging and enthusiastic environment.  Registration required.

    May 5  & 12

    Note:  Those who register for the April-May session cannot register for the May-June session and vice versa.

    Play Dungeons and Dragons at the library! Whether you've always wanted to learn, haven't played in years, or are an experienced player looking to join a table, try this five-part introduction to D&D for adults with Ottawa game master Allan Humphrey. The first session will include instruction on how to create a D&D character plus time to prepare for the game. Allan will run the adventure Dragons of Stormwreck Isle over the next four sessions. Registration is required, and the game is intended for players 18 and older. Note: If enough players join the waiting list, we will open a second table and run the first chapter of Waterdeep: Dragon Heist as well.

  • How to Secure a Home Wireless Network

    Many wireless routers do not default to the most secure configuration. Make sure you are not the "low-hanging fruit" that someone will decide to attack. It is surprisingly easy to make sure your network is secure. Chris Taylor, President of the Ottawa PC Users' Group will show you just how easy it is.

    Every Monday evening we put the spotlight on a director's work, giving us a chance to explore their oeuvre, revisit movies we've played on Tuesdays, and just....watch some good movies. This month's pick is Lee Chang-dong.

    Join us for a free screening of Green Fish In as part of our Monday Director Spotlight Series. The film was released in 1997. The screening will take place in our auditorium, starts at 6:00PM and is free to attend.

    Note: The film is intended for a mature audience. 111 minutes. In Korean with English subtitles.

    Apr. 7 at 5:45 PM: The Horse Whisperer

    A real classic starring and directed by Robert Redford. Based on the 1995 novel by Nicholas Evans, the movie tells a story of a talented trainer with a remarkable gift for understanding horses, who is hired to help an injured teenager (played by Scarlett Johansson) and her horse back to health following a tragic accident. 

    May 5 at 6 PM: Bad Boys: Ride or Die

    The fourth installment of the Bad Boys film series is a buddy cop action-comedy film starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
