Celebrate Pride with Author Emily Austin

Join us for an event with Canadian author Emily Austin. Emily will be in conversation with Francesco MacAllister-Caruso, discussing her novels We Could Be Rats, Interesting Facts About Space, and Everyone In This Room Will Someday Be Dead, and her poetry collection Gay Girl Prayers. She’ll share behind the scenes insights into her writing process and her work and take questions from the audience. A book signing will follow the program.

Author Biography:

Emily Austin is the author of three novels ("We Could Be Rats", "Interesting Facts about Space", and "Everyone In This Room Will Someday Be Dead"), and one poetry collection ("Gay Girl Prayers.") "Everyone in This Room" was long listed for The Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour, shortlisted for the Amazon First Novel Award, and a finalist for the Ottawa Book Awards. "Interesting Facts About Space" has been nominated for the 2025 Forest of Reading Evergreen Award and long listed for The Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour. It was also the #1 bestselling LGBTQIA+ book in Canada and the most circulated LGBTQIA+ book in Canadian libraries in 2024. Emily was born in St. Thomas, Ontario, and she currently resides in Ottawa / the territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation.
