    Stories, rhymes and songs for children of all ages and their parents or caregivers. Local children's book illustrator, Gillian Reid, will read her books Molly's Tuxedo by Vicki Johnson and Peanut Goes for the Gold by Jonathan Van Ness before leading everyone through some crafts.

    Family program for ages 4+. Drop-in.

    About Gillian Reid:
    Gillian Reid is a children’s book illustrator, character designer, and life drawing teacher. Originally from Northern Ireland, she now calls Ottawa home. She has been illustrating picture books since 2017 and has been doing animation character design for a decade. Her work has been published by Epic! Creations, Harper Collins, Penguin Workshop, and Little Bee Books. She has also worked on the Emmy Award winning Netflix series Hilda.

    Come recreate a famous piece of art. We will select a new piece of art and give you all the supplies you need!

    Do you have children ages 5-8?  Would you like them to read more?  Then join our weekly Reading Buddies program.  Each child will be paired with a teen volunteer for fun and interactive read aloud sessions.  Together they will share the joys of reading in a friendly, encouraging and enthusiastic environment.  Registration required. 

    Session dates:
    May 26
    June 2, 9, 16 and 23

    Note:  Those who register for the May-June session will not be able to register for the April-May session and vice versa.

  • Board Game Cover
    Monday May 26, 2025 at 7:30pm

    For ages 11-15.  Join us for a cross-country train adventure.  Players collect cards of various types of train cars that enable them to claim railway routes connecting cities throughout North America. The longer the routes, the more points they earn.  Additional points come to those who can fulfill their Destination Tickets by connecting two distant cities, and to the player who builds the longest continuous railway.  So climb aboard for some railroading fun and adventure.  You've got a ticket to ride!  Snacks will be served.  Registration required.

    It’s Friday and you walk into your science classroom and suddenly are swirled and twirled, round and round,
    until you find yourself back in your very first classroom, on that very first school chair you ever sat on. Clearly,
    you’re in the wrong class! The Teacher in the front. .. Isn’t even in your science teacher-but the kindergarten
    teacher you had! As Excited as you are to be back in the land of play-doh and crayons, you quickly realize that
    something is terribly wrong. Time isn’t moving forward and if you don’t figure out quick how to get yourself out
    of the flashback. .. You will be repeating that same hour of kindergarten, over and over and over again! You Just
    want it to be the weekend. .. Please!

  • Mommy & Me Painting - Pandas

    Registration opens on Monday, May 19, 2025 - 10:00am

    Join us for a story followed by an opportunity to create a work of art together! A child and their guardian will receive canvases and paint them so that come together to make an image.

    Note: The program is limited to 1 child per 1 guardian. One registration reserves a spot for a guardian and a child.

  • Sensory Storytime

    Join us for a program that features:

    • dimmed lighting
    • sensory toys
    • a smaller number of participants
    • an adapted circle time with stories, rhymes and songs

    During this program there will be opportunities for open play and a chance to connect with other families. The circle time portion of this program is offered in the last 20 minutes of the session. A family member must be present for the duration of the program.

    This program provides a welcoming environment and respects the needs of children from 18 months to 6 years who live with developmental disabilities and/or autism, or who show signs of a developmental delay.
