    Adults are invited to participate in a fun collage-making session! Explore your creative side and piece together something beautiful. Collages make nice greeting cards or posters to decorate your home. All supplies (scissors, paper, glue) will be provided but you are also welcome to bring your own materials.

    Join our Creativebug workshops the last Saturday of each month! All material will be provided, and you will always get to take your creation with you. 

    Registration for each individual session required and attendance is limited. 

    Creativebug, which is included in your Library membership, gives you access to thousands of free arts & crafts video workshops. They are all taught by recognized design experts and artists. Categories include, but are not limited to, knitting, crochet, design, sewing, jewelry, and cooking. Classes are for beginner, intermediate and advanced students of all ages.

Puisque les ressources de Creativebug sont disponibles en anglais seulement, les vidéos diffusées en bibliothèque seront toujours en anglais. Cependant, nos organisateurs se feront un plaisir de traduire les instructions pour vous si nécessaire; n'hésitez pas à nous le demander!

    Creativebug, qui est inclus dans votre abonnement à la Bibliothèque, vous donne accès à des milliers d'enregistrements d'ateliers d’artisanat et de bricolage. Ils sont tous menés par des experts et des artistes connus. Les catégories incluent, entre autres, le tricot, le crochet, le design, la couture, la bijouterie, et la cuisson. Les cours ciblent les publics débutants, intermédiaires et avancés de tout âge.

    Technology and Social Media can be overwhelming.

    Teen Volunteers share their Social Media knowledge with older Adult in a two-on-one setting.  

    Areas of technology help will focus on user’s personal account use by initial setting up of the accounts and how use the site:

    X (former Twitter)

    Pinterest

    One hour= One topic

    If you want to cover a different topic from the list, Facilitator will need to approve it, as this is a one hour session.

    Meeting place: Teen Zone on the 3rd floor.

    Please bring your device fully charged (ex. cell phone, tablet, or laptop).

    Please provide a phone number we can contact you about your topic.

    You can sign up for one session and one waiting list slot per quarter.

    Join us for an overview of Libby, Cantook, and CloudLibrary; apps that allows you to borrow eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines through the Ottawa Public Library.

    This session will include how to navigate the apps, borrowing and putting books on hold, logging into our partner libraries, and other helpful tips and tricks. Please bring your own device and we can help you set it up. 

    Registration encouraged but drop-ins always welcome.

We will discuss various aspects of the game, do practical exercises and problems, explore and practice. Designed for beginners and intermediate players.

    Whether your next project is a greeting card, poster, newsletter, business card, logo, or anything else that incorporates text, Chris can help you avoid common typographic pitfalls. Practical tips will be shared to choose the right typeface, create visually appealing and readable text, and more. For the design novice or seasoned pro, this presentation will enhance your appreciation and understanding of typography’s powerful impact.

    Take your photography to the next level by getting your camera off "Auto" to achieve the creative effects you want. Learn how to tell your camera to capture what you see - don't let it decide for you. Topics covered will include an understanding of aperture, shutter speed and ISO which can be applied to any camera that has a dial for selecting exposure settings (e.g. "A" or "Av", and "S" or "Tv"). Presented by Chris Taylor, President of the Ottawa PC Users' Group and Vice-president of the Orleans Photo Club.
