Many current bestsellers incorporate postmodern literary tricks to engage and amuse readers. Though often described in danting theoretical language by academics, these techniques are easy to understand in practice. Once you are aware of them, you will recognize them in the novels you are reading, and you will be able to use them to insert wry humor and entertaining surprises in the stories you are writing.
