This practical, interactive demonstration workshop for adults will explore family-friendly ways to incorporate local, seasonal fall produce into everyday meals, organized around five key strategies:
Make It Fun: Creative shapes, textures, and interactive presentations to appeal to the whole family.
Make It Last: Simple techniques like quick pickling and freezing to extend the life of seasonal produce.
Make It Convenient: Practical ways to use frozen and canned options to simplify meals for busy families.
Make It Familiar: Easy methods to integrate seasonal produce into familiar family favorites.
Make It Work Twice: Tips for repurposing prepared ingredients and leftovers to reduce food waste and save time.
A handout will be provided.
About Catherine Pouliot: Catherine Pouliot is a bilingual registered dietitian and owner of cookingwithcat.ca. She has taught culinary classes for many years and strives to guide individuals on healthy eating, practical kitchen skills, and finding balance.
This workshop will be held in the Kitchen at the Parkdale Food Centre (2-30 Rosemount Avenue) and is part of Ottawa Public Library’s Kitchen Experiences series.
