About The Branch
The original West Library of former Ottawa Public Library (pre-2001), Rosemount Branch stands as the oldest purpose-built library facility in Ottawa. Large windows illuminate this beautiful heritage building. This original Carnegie Library has all the modern features in an old-world setting.
- Rosemount Branch is the oldest Ottawa Public Library branch still operating in its original building and is the only remaining Carnegie Library in Ottawa.
- The original building was built in 1918 and expanded in 1932. The branch was renovated in 2021.
- Although it is not a designated heritage building, it is included on the City of Ottawa’s Heritage Reference List.
- Rosemount Branch is a well-loved, extremely busy community hub, which currently has the highest circulation of materials per square foot of all OPL branches.
